RKCPL Limited has been awarded the construction of Zirakpur Panchkula Bypass road (PR-7) by NHAI for a bid of 1380 crore, under the hybrid annuity mode (HAM). This will greatly help in decongesting zirakpur and benefit the city residents from heavy traffic, noise, air pollution as well as make travelling toward Panchkula, Himachal seamlessly.
The six lane 19.2 Km highway with 6.195-km elevated stretch, conceived over a decade ago, aimed to decongest the zirakpur town, NH-5 and NH-7 highways. The land acquisition was completed in year 2020 and the project was stuck up in forest clearance, now Senior officials confirmed that the final forest clearance has been granted for the diversion of 17.57 hectares of forest land.
The final clearance became possible after the Punjab Forests Minister accorded a formal approval to the proposal, acting on the recommendation of the Forests Secretary. The file was thereafter forwarded to the IRO, Chandigarh, which issued the Stage-2 clearance certificate, effectively removing the last regulatory hurdle for award of the project.
Zirakpur Panchkula bypass is an important piece in the Tricity ring road project which will provide seamless connectivity to multiple surrounding regions.
